A yellow-bellied sapsucker! It's a woodpecker!

This was a very complex image to edit. I'll probably have to do a second run at a desktop where I have more control.

An authoritarian regime does not seek approval; it manufactures consent. Through fear, propaganda, and repetition, it reshapes oppression into perceived normality.

The first triumph of authoritarianism is when people repeat its lies—not out of belief, but to avoid trouble. In time, truth vanishes into silence.

The empire Elon Musk built on taxpayer subsidies, carbon credits, and family wealth from apartheid-era emerald mines is wobbling. Tesla is losing market share, stock value, and investor confidence. And this decline threatens to spread to X his social media platform

I was playing with my phone's camera after having just gotten it.

I love how alien the macro world can look.

I helped build a government AI system. DOGE fired me, rolled the AI out to the whole agency, and implied the AI can do my job and the jobs of the others they've fired.

It can't. But, what DOGE accidentally revealed about themselves in the process is fascinating. 🧵

I wish I had the energy to lug around my dslr like I did in college. I'd have to get a small portable camera if my cellphone didn't do as well as it does!

1. On Friday Night, it became apparent that historic LGBTQ+ clinic Whitman-Walker in DC had erased trans care and resources from it's website.

The stated reason is harmful to us all.

I make my case against it, and other orgs, erasing us for federal dollars.

No More Compliance: Historic LGBT Clinic Whitman-Walker's Erasing Of Trans People A Step Too Far
On Friday night, it became widely known that several links to gender affirming care and transgender resources disappeared from Whitman-Walker's website. Their stated reason is harmful to us all.

There is no compelling state interest in eviscerating protection against sex discrimination for individuals whose gender identities do not align with their biological sex, as such interest would be permitting sex discrimination towards a minority population, in violation of the policy of the State

Have you mapped out communal resources this week?

Have you reached out or volunteered with local organizations?

Have you been securing your person or information?

Have you been finding trusted people who can care for you if things go wrong?

It doesn't have to be all of that. Anything counts.

This is my personal mission these days, doing what I can to help develop our network.
Education and awareness expose manipulation. Grassroots action builds local resilience. Pressure governments for transparency. Use social media and networks to unite communities for fairness, justice, and ending impunity. Change starts with collective action.

the way i'd describe my plurality is kind of like event sourcing

my memories (the "event log") are continuous and intact no matter who fronts, but the way i understand them varies wildly depending on who is fronting

I’m not happy with every time I’ve talked about a book with this platform. There are places I wish I could change my tone or approach.

But holding steadfast to your values and acting on principle ultimately has a greater longterm effect, even if it feels bad when you fuck up along the way.

Also worth noting that this is a practicum. You have to actively work at it every time you pick up a book or interact with someone online, and sometimes you fail.

Biases are very real, and sometimes they get the better of you.

But you correct your mistakes with grace and do better next time.

Sums up how I approach review and critique in a nutshell.
more should normalize 'I support your art, but it's not for me'

liking/disliking art is highly subjective and personal, but often people equate what they feel about a work as endorsement or a judgment on its value

I think acknowledging when something is valid but irrelevant to you goes a long way

Part of the Republican / Trump play book is to have you running putting out ideological fires. From library readings, to deportations, to abortions, school shootings, and etc. A merry go round of stochastic terrorism meant to keep you terrified, busy, and blindly following their preferred narrative.
