Contradiction-laden commentary on the intersections of left politics, community organizing, music and getting down, from Tacoma, WA writer, political candidate, and DJ Devin Rydel Kelly / Adlib.
The Copaganda machine deploys rapidly, almost always leaving innocent bodies in its wake.

My friend and comrade @zevfortacoma.bsky.social leading chants at a UFCW local 367 informational picket supporting Marlene's workers fighting for a fair contract. If you shop there, you should probably tell Marlene's you support their workers.

Robert Redford was the GOAT. One of the only actors with greatness throughout his career. One of the only directors to consistently take up politically controversial content. One of the only Hollywood liberals with anything close to a real spine. He let the world change him and he changed the world.

86% of International Association of Genocide Scholars voted to label the situation in Gaza a Genocide. I don't know what more you need to believe it at this point.

Video from today's powerful rally by Tanggol Migrante, La Resistencia, and many others in supporters of Zahid Chaudry, Filipino detainees, and everyone illegally held at the Northwest Detention Center. Hundreds of folks from across the NW were there speaking truth to power.

3/3) I wrapped up at a powerful rally by Tanggol Migrante, La Resistencia and many others in supporters of Zahid Chaudry, Filipino detainees, and everyone illegally held at the Northwest Detention Center. Hundreds more folks from across the NW were there speaking truth to power.

1/3) I joined workers and immigrants today to celebrate Labor Day in the best way you can, with songs, chanting, food, and solidarity. The morning started with about 50 of us at the annual Ralph Chaplin memorial sing along, celebrating the life of the great labor songwriter buried here in Tacoma.

ICE and CPB agents arresting firefighters during an active fire is the best/worst evidence I've seen for why lumping police and fire together under the banner of "public safety" is a total fraud that needs to stop. Firefighters fight fires. Police stop and/or start crime. Not the same.

So All My Friends and North American Scum are my forever faves, and I love basically all of American Dream. But this new jam was so infectious that I can't get it out of my head. X-Ray Eyes!

It only took seeing LCD Soundsystem 3.5 times before getting to hear North American Scum. But it was oh so worth the wait. And on 808 day, to boot.

I wanna be crystal clear on this, since I helped lead the year-long campaign. Neither John Hines nor Joe Bushnell created Tacoma's HOPE team. The people did. Period.

Despite John's claims to the contrary...

Just a little midsummer magic from Holly's backyard bonanza over here...

Ladies, gentlemen, and friends beyond the binary. I present the opposition. (AKA don't vote for these folks, please and thank you)

I'd call this one "Manifest Dumpsterny"

I spent the first half of my day helping set up and run the Tacoma for All and Tacoma DSA booth at Mosaic Festival, and now I'm excited to go knock some doors for my friend and comrade Zev Cook. I'm tempted to say no rest for the weary, but I kinda love all this stuff.

Holy shit! France just recognized Palestinian statehood!

I'm excited for today's Mayoral Forum on Tacoma's housing crisis at Common Good Tacoma, sponsored by seven awesome orgs. We'll be gathering in Common Good's parking lot at 11am for food and fellowship, then hosting FIVE candidates addressing questions from community members with lived experience.

Today's sprawl was hard to capture with the angle and backlighting, but too cute to not shoot.

I had a wonderful time at Tacoma Pride 2025, where I had the honor of helping run the Tacoma DSA booth, got to connect with other progressive candidates, and talk to hundreds of folks. TDSA member leaders and particularly folks in our Transgender and Bodily Autonomy Workgroup showed up big time.

As usual, I'm about a month behind on my print media reading. As usual, under Trump 2.0, it always feels both dated and prescient. @sarahljaffe.bsky.social's recent In These Times piece on the relationship between disasters, day labor, and deportation is a potent case in point.

Over 100 people are here for tonight's Tacoma DSA meeting, listening to an incredible opening discussion from Shaun Scott, the first Socialist elected to the WA legislature in over 100 years, and riding on the wave of enthusiasm from Zohran Mamdani's NYC primary win.

Tacoma DSA's monthly meeting is tonight, and we have a guest discussion led by the one and only @organizewithshaun.bsky.social, the first socialist elected to the WA legislature in 100 years. We'll also have important updates on all our campaigns. Join us at Common Good Tacoma (621 Tacoma Ave) @7:00

My friend and comrade Zev for Tacoma City Council just put out this Incindiary, inspiring TNT Op-Ed connecting Zohran Mamdani's NYC primary race to her own, the importance of running unabashedly in favor of Palestinian liberation, and the working class power of the Democratic Socialists of America.
