Trump is trying to provoke a response so that he can invoke the Insurrection Act. Then it is "game over" for democracy.
A difficult situation because doing nothing invites a slide to fascism. So, non-violence and humor (some of the antics used in Portland) will help.

Does the shutdown mean the National Guard(eners) won't be available to rake leaves in Democratic run cities?

Last night's dinner - homemade chili (NO BEANS!) and cornbread. (NB-I make my own chili paste from dried chilies rather than the powered stuff. Approx. 1 c chili paste to approximate. 4 lbs beef, cut by hand into 3/8 inch cubes)

Former NWS officials told the New York Times that the problem appeared to be that NWS had lost the staffers who would communicate with local authorities to warn of dangerous conditions. The NWS published flash flood warnings but safety officials didn’t send out public warnings until hours later.

Can anyone tell me under what legal authority did the US bomb Iran? US was not attacked, no "clear and present danger," and no declaration of war by Congress. WTF?

Hey! Press covering Trump!

The statute that lets him impose tariffs at will? It EXPLICITLY excludes movies.

He has no authority to do this. Not just bc of an absence of authorization, but bc the law says “you CANNOT do this.”

Do NOT say “Trump has imposed movie tariffs,” bc he did not. He CANNOT.

Trump attacks Zelensky for not backing his peace plan.
But would Trump like to be remembered as the President who gave up Texas to foreign invaders?

In the 1860s, Republicans invented the income tax to guarantee both that the nation’s bills got paid and that the burden would fall “not upon each man an equal amount,” as Senator Justin Smith Morrill (R-VT) put it then, “but a tax proportionate to his ability to pay.”

I second this. Every time I donate to Wikipedia, they thank me and say that I am one of the few users that donates. A shame.
If you've never donated to Wikipedia, now's the time. Elon Musk is attacking it because it's one of the only sources of honest, curated information that he can't control.

Listening to some new vinyl. Roy Buchanan, live at Austin City Limits way back on November 15, 1976. (New West Records)
As a student in the Radio-TV-Film program,I had access to tickets to the, then, almost unknown TV show taping. I was present. Find a copy or stream it somewhere. Amazing.

The Framers answer to this would absolutely have been throwing the President in state jail. While he was VP, Aaron Burr had two outstanding state warrants against him!

(Burr murdered some guy. Can't remember their name.)
