There should be a constitutional amendment to end government shutdowns, and it should simply say:
“Any impasse within Congress that causes a government shutdown triggers a mandatory election of every seat in the House and Senate six months from the day the shutdown occurs.”

I was sad to see David Ketchum (Agent 13 from the “Get Smart” TV series) died August 10th. As a kid in elementary school I was cast in a Clorox commercial with him, and he was very kind to me, though I wasn’t great in the role. The scene was he and I in the bleachers of a baseball game.

It feels to me the ever-present message conveyed by the ubiquitous corporate media to its audience is “Your world is shit, and it will never improve, and there’s nothing you can do about it.” It seems the purpose is demoralize the population into inaction. That doesn’t improve anything. #massmedia

Wrote a screenplay in 2002, and decided to revisit it. It’s easier to rewrite it after so much time, because the emotional attachment is dissipated somewhat. It was my first screenplay, so it was too precious to rework back then. Doubtful it would ever be produced, but still proud. #Screenplay

So, if NPR and PBS survive, they will need to rely more on corporate donors, which will have an adverse impact on content. It’s better to have public broadcasting free from corporate interference, but I guess we don’t value that as a culture.

Billionaires need to be taxed out of existence for America to survive as a livable nation. There’s no justification for the ultra wealthy. There’s no reason the rest of the U.S. population should be expected to humor their malignant narcissism and megalomaniacal behavior.

We’re having some pretty healthy rain in the Bay Area now. Not sure if this will help refill the reservoirs Trump decided to drain to not provide water to Los Angeles. The Central Valley farmers can use access to the water in the Summer, so hopefully Trump doesn’t drain to spite California again.

Just curious, why do we need a US Congress if Elon Musk can override the laws they pass and just cutoff authorized federal payments unilaterally? Now he’s on a holy war against Lutherans. Surprising there is no way for the U.S. government to defend itself from this hostile takeover.

Just a little postmortem here. In retrospect, did it benefit Democrats that during 2020 election cycle they pulled a “Murder on the Orient Express” maneuver to outflank Bernie Sander’s movement and install Joe Biden as their Presidential candidate? Democrats lost the Left and Biden’s a disaster.
