Not listened to the News Agents for a while - got a bit sick of the low-stakes "chess game" punditry. But they've just been to #Minnesota covering #ice. Worth a listen to hear about some of the work people are doing to push back.

OTOH I've gone back to live TV as I realise I need the serendipity; the choice on platforms is overwhelming and I end up not watching anything. The schedules are slim pickings, but I stumbled across that Rob & Rylan Grand Tour […]

The Lies They Told
Sometimes, the implausibility is the point. Also this week: the even truer-size map; and some extremely late but mercifully-brief film reviews.

Um ... we've been here before ... wasn't there something called the "Boston Tea Party" which was provoked by exactly this sort of colonial trade restriction?

Adding an LLM to a product like a browser is a strange decision. The thought process that leads to "Our product could be improved if we added the ability to be confidently wrong about a wide variety of topics" is hard to understand.

Really comprehensive. I hadn't even realised some of these were non-US.

First task for me is probably to get off Gmail, and work out whether moving off MS Word is feasible given what I use it for

• Fucking over the environment.
• Enclosing culture […]

I offer Cassandra's Complete Class Theorem¹.

All "good use cases for AI" break down into one of four categories:

I. Bad use case.
II. Good use case, but not something AI can do.
III Good use case, but it's already been done without AI.
IV. Not AI in the LLMs and GANs sense, but in the machine […]
