@gottalaff.bsky.social mostly the problem is that we're locked into US tech. Those are the most dominant US products that we use, and they're a nightmare to get out of. Stopping wearing Levi's is easier than stopping using MasterCard, or migrating whole businesses off Outlook.
Not saying it […]

@samfr.bsky.social lots of right wing politicians seem to think "I'm actually better than this job, you plebs. You should be grateful I'm lowering myself" is the vibe

@ottocr.at guardian podcast today putting forward the "why should we cede the platform to the right" argument. As though it wasn't already gone.
Standing in the wasteland trying to see other humans waving among all the bots doing nazi salutes.

@stephenkb.bsky.social I think that's almost a symptom of the actual cause, which is that the US on social media perceives the UK as "the US if it were full of socialists". It behoves US media to promote RW talking points. GB News basically exists for social media clips. Tom Nicholas has a good […]

@christineburns ok but... By "family home" do you mean "home that is no longer in use"? If it's destined to be unoccupied once the elderly person moves out, won't the children be selling it anyway?
Don't get me wrong I think the way we deal with social care costs is horrible but I don't really […]

@paulschoe even before that - the licence plate is illegible, the car badge is just a blob, and the driver walks between his car and the one that just just hit him and *did not reverse*.

@ottocr.at why do so many people compare themselves to children in self defence.
You're not a poor ickle baby, and I'm not your mummy.

Was yours when he said that generating kiddie porn is free speech? OK, mine was when he called the man who rescued children in a cave a paedo.

@venite @futurebird debugging is standard even in primary in many curricula - you can start with basic algorithms, move onto block code, then move onto very basic python and even database/search queries. And still keep the algorithms running alongside!

@futurebird maybe reiterate at the start of the demo, and even put up a short statement on the wall so you can point at it rather than answer! Should drum it in quickly

@futurebird not just the men either. Vance enjoys his makeup as much as Trump does. There seems to be a certain oranging occurring among many of the top brass.

@futurebird I think it's a perspective thing - more that the call is coming from inside the house. It seems from the outside that achieving a certain "look" is a sort of purity test for MAGA women. In the same way that other cults require certain looks from their women - often it's more along […]

@sillymickel.bsky.social I'd advise against using AI to generate a guess of his face under the mask as it may mean people assume that's what he actually looks like - which means he's harder to find.
