I am fascinated by tubeworms and take ridiculous quantities of photos of them. These seasonally appropriate Christmas tree worms retract into their tubes quickly at the slightest disturbance so it's good practice to hover motionless while getting the shot. 🦑 #scuba #diving #oceans #coralreef

Shades of purple & deep pink, color these orchid flowers, with soft yellow on edges & filling-in elsewhere… When the first flowers were all nearly finished, surprisingly the stem - very slowly - grew more buds at the top. These are the first blooms from this stem’s newest buds. Recent photo.

Just a small group of about 500 purple (or lilac-ish) flowers on one single tree on my walk to work this morning. Hopefully they won't cause a shortage in the National Strategic Purple Reserve, but just in case there IS one you now know the reason why.
