we stand with @treatmentactiongroup.org in refusing the clown car of bigotry and pseudo-science that just pulled up to the White House. proud to have given TAG its founding grant in the early 90's. read this statement:
TAG Rejects the Transphobia and Science Denialism of the New Presidential Administration – Treatment Action Group
The new U.S. presidential administration has issued several executive orders, which use pseudo-scientific claims to deny the existence of transgender and non-binary people.

I honestly really hope more people make time for the Transa record. It's more cohesive, consistent and surprising than any record of the sort has a right to be. I think it genuinely explores transness in an interesting way, and it's just got a lot of great music on it.

The rich are clearly not reading any Oscar Wilde. Plus, I think part of the problem is that they don’t know they won - there’s always someone richer to compete with and more winning to win. Meanwhile, they never see the suffering that it costs. It’s disgusting.

I know I’m behind, but I’ve spent the past day with the TRANSA compilation album, and it is truly such a work of art. I am on the final disc of the nearly 4 hour work, and I don’t know that there’s been a single skip-worthy track

Queer artists are often expected to serve as liaisons, “opening doors” between themselves and others... On Transa, they are instead free to reach upward, toward divinity, by channelling feelings bigger than any one person’s experience. Humanity, not transness, unites them.
Hunter Schafer, Claire Rousay and Ahya Simone on Transa Compilation
In a roundtable discussion, the three artists open up about their work on Red Hot's new compilation.

Cole Pulice, Eileen Myles, and Hunter Schafer's collaboration "Under the Shadow of Another Moon" is the undeniable emotional centerpiece of 'Transa,' Red Hot's massive trans rights compilation. Here's how it came together. www.hearingthings.co/eileen-myles...
Hearing Things
What a funny, Miles Davis-related production error in ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ tells us about jazz, class, and—maybe, just maybe—America itself.

The compilation album "Transa" feels like a miraculous blessing.
Once I pushed "play", I felt embraced, taken care of and loved. So many songs that have consoled me in my suffering, so many wonderful artists I adore!
This world treats us like shit most of the time, but now it smiled at us.

First year I’ve noticed a significant drop in my Spotify usage. I used to flirt with 100k min streamed but this year I clocked in only 19k minutes streamed. Best we get our music elsewhere honestly.

TRAИƧA. Prince. Sade. Kate Bush. Andre 3000. Jeff Tweedy. Clairo. Perfume Genius. Laura Jane Grace. Adrianne Lenker.

By participating in this experience, a listener is not lock-picking one door under cloak of darkness but kicking it down and rushing in to join a constituency of like-minded artists.

When I heard 'Ever New' by Sam Smith and Beverly Glenn-Copeland out of sequence, as a single, I couldn't figure out why such a beautiful rendition felt out of place. I needed to hear it close out TRANSA for its full weight to hit me.

Listen to TRANSA. This labour of love is an epic journey best experienced together. As much as I appreciated the singles published before release day those songs feel more natural in sequence. There's so much history and affirming artistry here without a note of artifice. Thank you, Red Hot.
