This is great - I had no idea!
On this day in 1965, the new Maple Leaf Flag was raised at Parliament Hill for the first time.
But getting to that point was very difficult. It was a divisive debate to create the flag, that went on for months.

The Los Angeles wildfires are at risk of contaminating the city's water supply, with ash, pathogens, toxic chemicals, flame retardants, and even melted pipes able to enter reservoirs and aqueducts.

Several communities have advised residents not to drink tap water.

Water is becoming a major issue in the Southern California fires.

As crews battled the wildfire in Pacific Palisades, they put so much strain on the water system that the fire hydrants ran dry.

The fires have also fed ash into the water supply, leading to a boil order notice.
