my dad does many dad things but one of the most dad things he does is whenever he leaves me a voicemail, he states his name, the date, and the time, like my phone won’t tell me all of those things, and i hope he never stops 😂

it’s barely been two weeks and my body is still just reeling from learning that Ben is gone. i’ll be doing something and it’ll just hit me again and i’ll have to sob a couple times and then go numb again so i can keep working. fuck

This is exactly how librarians have been blamed for cuts to library budgets for decades. "You didn't do enough to communicate your value." What that really means is "you don't make any profit, and profit is the only legitimate value an organization can produce."
You hear this a lot on the left but it isn't true. USAID did not "fail to tell its story to Americans," the right targeted the agency with lies and misinformation.
Ultimately this narrative turns conservative attacks into even more calls for the left to reform.

as a grantwriter working on digital equity since 2017 - access to technology and affordable internet is broadly considered part of core wraparound services now. you can’t apply for jobs, access gov’t benefits etc without it. ignore online hot takes. people actually doing the work know this
