Dear Shane Jones, if you are to be Climate Minister, you can absolutely treat cost of living issues whilst making sustained significant emmisions reductions. They are not mutually exclusive, as you have recently suggested.

NZ house building surge is over? Planning rules, infrastructure and low interest rates (not necessarily in that order) really helped during the covid years. Rising immigration/population growth and slowing supply will increase housing costs and housing insecurity.

No doubt controversial, but a bit less pro-sport and drinking, and a bit more self-reflection and whanau ora from Kiwis. Then we can rely less on, and the chance of, quality leadership. Far more effective if we hv decent civics education and critical thinking skills in place for our young learners.
