A problem I've been trying to fix was resolved within the first thirty minutes of the new year. I'm taking it as a good omen.

Finally finished Amphibia just past midnight. I'm still crying. Wouldn't start a new year any other way.

In 2026: Generative AI is not inevitable. You can say no. You can refuse. You can reject the disgusting lukewarm slop that the richest and worst people in the world are trying to force-feed you. You can tell them to eat shit and die mad. You can break the machine

Sitting a stewing in frustration isn't nearly as cathartic as just designing a poster. Let's see how often I remember that in 2026.

With emphasis, there is no difference in the conservative mind between porn and "icky porn". Queer existence itself is porn to them. Band together and say no to censorship, wholesale. You will not get a pass for being one of the "good" queers. IN THE CONSERVATIVE MIND, THERE IS NO SUCH THING.

Affinity Suite used to be a great Ad*be alternative but was apparently purchased by C*nva and immediately ruined with a free-to-use model and AI shit inserted. Open Source remains the way to go.

It’s not a big hassle to move it to Ghost! They have a built-in migration tool that imports all your content & data from Substack (which you export in .csv format), including paid & free subscribers, & boom! Done. Slightly longer setup if you aren’t already using Stripe for your paid subs.
Damn I wish all my mutuals would leave Substack and Spotify. I know it's a hassle to shift over to a new platform, but I promise it's worth your time in these cases!

I think we need to wipe out describing watching films, reading books, listening to music etc as "consuming content" before any kind of healing can begin

People always say "don't add pop culture references to your books because it dates them" but I want my books dated. They're specific pockets of time that won't mean the same thing outside of context. If you're writing anything that engages with the world around you, it will be dated.

As we enter the New Year remember fear of making bad art is holding you back. Fear of people not liking your work is holding you back. Rejection is holding you back

You'll make bad art, you'll have people not like your work, and you'll be rejected. Moving past it is half the job of being a creative

It's wild how much my anxiety has decreased in just the two weeks since I moved in with friends who lift me up and don't stress me out. I didn't realize how much of my difficulty navigating life was because of the environment I had to go home to.

We don’t need AI to “be creative” for us; we need a world in which there is time and space to wonder, joke and play with words. To fuck around with color and texture, to experiment with an intriguing sound, without the need to immediately convert process and artifact into engagement to stay solvent.

Sir Terry Pratchett is best understood as one of the most interesting, deeply ethical practical (I would say Pragmatist but I cede to actual experts) philosophers of the late 20th Century who just happened to work in deconstructed fantasy literature as his medium.
