Although my MC Mireia often does things on a whim, I'm going with a snip about Kena today.

From Book 2 of my Atlantis trilogy: Kena gets a lesson about love from a priestess of the Cult of the 5 Loves.
“The Fourth Love is Milavaia,” she said. “The Love That Sees. You called him charity a moment ago, but he is much more than that. He is compassion, mercy, empathy—the love that happens when you look at another person and understand that they are you.” “What do you mean?” Kena asked quietly, daring to interrupt for the first time since she’d begun her lesson. “We all see ourselves as the center of our own story, iidi,” the priestess said with a gentle smile. “We all wish to be treated justly, to have our needs met, to be seen as valuable. We all have desires and viewpoints that we believe are good and correct. We all want to be forgiven for our mistakes, and be recognized for our successes. The Love That Sees is what we feel when we can look at another person—perhaps someone we are close to, or a complete stranger, or even an enemy—and realize we are the same. They, too, see themselves as the center of their stories. They, too, want all those same things that we want. And, but for the whims of chance, we might very well have been them.”

Spencer adjusted his grip to accommodate the change, relaxing his hold on the thief’s arm as she pulled the knife away. She was heavier than he’d expected, confoundingly solid and warm and so very present perched across his thighs.

Exciting news! We’re thrilled to announce that tapir Yuna gave birth to a rare and endangered Malayan tapir calf Sunday night. The newborn, covered in distinctive white spots and stripes resembling a fuzzy walking watermelon, is only the second tapir born in our 120-year history.
