Absolutely frothing at the mouth over this "dire wolf" thing. Everything about it feels tailor made to smash move me out of existence and I'm strongly considering animorphing into a trout as a last ditch coping mechanism.

Even if de-extincting worked, making an animal in a lab does not balance destroying its habitat and wiping out its population. Where is the pseudo-wolf going to go? Work at Subway?
the "we fucked up a wolf and tried to brand it after a fantasy franchise" company (in which grrm is an investor) exists solely to justify the ongoing mass extinction of countless species: it's ok if capitalism kills off living things because we can always mutilate something else to simulate it
