BREAKING NOW: "all major world maps" on the online game GeoGuessr have been privated in protest of GeoGuessr's decision to participate in the Esports World Cup in Riyadh.

We, the creators of a considerable share of GeoGuessr's most popular maps, have decided to make our maps unplayable in protest of GeoGuess AB's decision to host a World Championship wildcard tourney at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh. The EWC is a sportswashing tool used by the government of Saudi Arabia to distract from and conceal its horrific human rights record. Groups targeted by the government include women, LGBTQ people, apostates and atheists, political dissenters, migrant workers in the Kafala system, religious minorities, and many others. The subjugation of these groups is extensive and pervasive. Members of these groups are routinely subjected to discrimination, imprisonment, torture, and even public executions. These severe human rights violations are well-documented and indisputable. By participating in the EWC, GeoGuessr is contributing to that sportswashing agenda, which is designed to take attention away from Saudi Arabia's human rights violations. The GeoGuess community is diverse and includes many members of groups that would be harshly persecuted were they to live in Saudi Arabia. In solidarity with those currently residing in Saudi Arabia while being subject to oppression, as well as members of the community who would feel and be unsafe attending the tournament in Riyadh, we have decided to black out our maps by replacing all their previous locations with random garbage locations, rendering them unplayable. This blackout includes dozens of creators and their maps, including a supermajority of the most popular competitively relevant world maps. It will continue until we see action from GeoGuess; specifically, we demand that GeoGuess cancels its wildcard event in Saudi Arabia and commits to not hosting any events there as long as it continues its oppressive regime. if your community couldn't handle a trans girl with a diaper kink without collapsing into pedophile witchhunting your community simply will not last. If your community cannot handle the clearest example of someone harming no one but herself without breaking down into rabid demands of exile, it cannot weather internal conflict that actually matters without going up in flames. Not only is transmisogyny, you know, a literal death sentence to the trans woman it brands sex criminals, it also just is a fundamental weakness of your community if a trans girl hurting no one can set it ablaze like i don't know how to tell you this but if you're that eager to collapse into moral purity testing for enemies within over a girl that just likes pissing herself and calling her girlfriend big sis, that is a trivially easy weak point for a hostile attacker to shatter your space along. Support the Weird trans women, even the ones you're not personally comfortable with. We're not coming to fuck your kids and dogs, I promise.

If you consider, as Gareth Watkins laid out so wonderfully last month, that AI, which is "embarrassing, destructive, and looks like shit" and as a result is "the new aesthetics of fascism", Altman and OpenAI's singling out of Studio Ghibli starts to make more sense. Especially when figures like Altman are being increasingly described as "technofascists". This isn't another laugh, another coy attempt at circumventing someone's rights to their creations; the way this has been pitched and sold is a direct attack, a flex revelling in the fact creators have so far proven largely powerless to stop these vultures from looting the history of human creation wholesale. So yeah, it sucks! Which is why people need to stop sharing that shit. If you accidentally fell into it via a chat or a message from a friend or whatever, and made an image because you thought it was cute, cut it out. If you're trying to dunk on the practice by linking to articles or examples that showcase the work, inadvertently flooding people's timelines with examples of this ghoulish, stolen work, stop. Nobody wants to see that shit. Nobody needs to see it.

some concept art for a #minecraft mod i’m (very slowly) developing. it’s all in blue ink but i think the Bloomwood trees in full color actually are bluish still lol
