Language is a set of "idea building blocks". The blocks link together building a combined meaning greater than the parts.

But the blocks aren't brick, they aren't solid in form. They're contextual and morph over time..
I have more I want to write about this later
Which is to say that language is fundamentally communicative: it's the way in which we share concepts with each other. This almost demands that the vast bulk of a language needs to be held and be usable in common: otherwise it just doesn't work.

Someone recently complained about LinkedIn in a discord group. Another person asked what's so bad about it? My only response is to quote this:

"To our accustomed way of thinking, technologies are seen as neutral tools that can be used well or poorly, for good, evil, or something in between.

LLMs are training the population to accept a single source of unaccountable, top-down assertions "truth" from tech-bros. These same people have vested interest in guiding users to actions which make them profit... and that is bad.

Scores of now-pardoned Jan. 6 insurrectionists will gather from 11:45am for a march to the Capitol starting at the Ellipse.

One insurrectionist who says he's attending: Enrique Tarrio, who was sentenced to prison until 2045 until Trump intervened.

I met this photogenic river this weekend after tubing in the snow with my kids.

2026 is gonna be all about moms and dads ruining 6-7

Imagine naming your round-up-hardworking-brown-people operation after a story written by the same man who wrote this.

Some pig, indeed.

My master's in data science will be finished in December and I will likely have a job(!). I can't begin to describe my stress over the past 2.5 years.

To give myself an outlet during this time, I taught myself to play piano by ear.

Great article that doesn't beat around the bush:

"The plutocrats are robbing the populists blind! All they care about is corruption, extraction, low taxes and low services—all of which exact serious costs from the mass movement of the populists."

The same year the company got that big South Dakota ad contract, it sent up to $25k to one of Noem’s closest aides.

That aide, 28-year-old Madison Sheahan, now second-in-command at ICE.

Fox News has “corrected” a piece about videos of Black women complaining about losing SNAP benefits, finally pointing out that they were AI-generated. Since these videos don’t involve real people, I imagine there’s little liability for so-called “news outlets” reporting racist AI propaganda as fact.
