In spite of how you feel about Charlie Kirk, Donald Trump or politics in general, what does the data say about the rise in hate crimes & political violence?

We checked.

The murder of Charlie Kirk was criminal, wrong, and should be condemned.

And Charlie Kirk was a horrible, hateful man who spent his life radicalizing young people to embrace their worst demons by targeting women, people of color, immigrants, and the marginalized.

I refuse to sanitize him.

They’re claiming the signature isn’t real but I’m going to remind everyone that 11000+ photographs and videos were removed from Epstein’s properties by the FBI and this is the tip of the fcking iceberg.

And I think everyone in the GOP knows it.

"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."

I fought this battle from inside higher ed for a few years, and I consistently saw liberal/progressive faculty open their mouths to defend hatemongers’ speech over their targeted students‘ speech. I would love to hear some of them reflect on that choice now.
It turns out that protecting hate speech did not create the conditions to protect other kinds of speech; instead, it protected hate and allowed hate movements to take over all the institutions of that might have defended the rest of us.

Moving, depressing words from Justice Sotomayor this morning: “We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, & appears to work a low wage job. Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent."

“the Court has steadily descended into no law, and just vibes.”
@leahlitman.bsky.social said it best: “Political culture imagines that the Supreme Court safeguards the Constitution, when in reality it is chipping away at the constitutional rights of historically marginalized groups."
The Supreme Court is really “just vibes”
In a new book, legal podcaster Leah Litman describes how the GOP and its jurists are "just not that into democracy."

What’s that saying? Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.

Trash.
Just a photo of Epstein happily holding up a novelty check, made to look like Donald Trump paid him $22,500 in exchange for a “fully depreciated” woman from Epstein.
Sorry to make it worse but there's a part of the WSJ article that no one is talking about that I had to share with someone.

Everyone else gets: higher prices for health care, electricity, and groceries.

Time to stop tiptoeing around it. These people are fanatics pursuing a Holy War. It’s a critical piece of the threat assessment that should inform our strategies. (Psst. They’re not just going to hand back power.)

What is an American?” Schmitt asked. It is a white person. America is a white homeland that organically binds together white people of the past, present and future. And its policies must be guided for their benefit if they are to succeed.

I know people are overwhelmed by too much news from every angle, and maybe people are distracted by the "terrorist" language, or just plain exhausted.

But this is the President of the United States saying he is going to go around killing people because he thinks they're criminals. And already did.
Trump: "When I see boats coming in like loaded up the other day with all sorts of drugs -- probably fentanyl mostly -- we're gonna take them out. And if people wants to have fun on the high seas of the low seas they're gonna be in trouble."
