This how the framing is going.

That a president has no power in the US constitution to do a thing is now being recast as the president having “no explicit power”.

Subtle, devious, dangerous, treacherous shift.

Sad and bad to see NYT adopting this spin on a headline.
This “explicit” is a weird editorial choice. The constitution gives the president no power over this at all. It’s not ambiguous.

Kind of amazing how many analysts and scholars wasted 100 000s of wordcount worth of credibility in taking the incoherent flailing of an incompetent administration that is rapidly paralysing the US seriously

It's simply amazing to me that the U.S. spent 70 years (1945-2015) constructing a post-WW2 military, economic, and social world order to its liking, only to turn around and decide it was actually the victim of this order the entire time.

pretty telling comment here. Britain and America absolutely did feed and clothe Nazi and Japanese POWs during WWII. and they provided food and supplies to occupied territories as the war was won. the Hunger Plan by contrast was a Nazi thing

Two hours after Keira Alexandra Kronvold gave birth, her daughter was taken from her – the third child to be removed from her care following a now-banned assessment that disproportionately targets Inuit women in Denmark. Will she win the fight to get Zammi back?

I really hope that this was just a(nother) failed attempt to impress Trump and bring him back to the Western team. Rare earth refinement is a messy and enviromentally unfriendly process that usually leaves one with a lot of undesirable waste, so everyone was quite happy to get it cheaply from China

Let's have some fun. In this NYT story, we see a picture of an OpenAI billboard on a college campus, suggesting the following prompt: "Give me a guide for mastering this Calc 101 syllabus. In two weeks. Small steps please."

What happens when we actually use ChatGPT to do this? THREAD!

I cannot stress enough, this is Trump making your kids tuition at *any* institution more expensive by scaring away international students who pay full-freight and thus subsidize US students' tuition.

That's how Dems should attack: Trump wants college to be more expensive. Trump take college.

i think the reality is that in the modern media ecosystem, the algorithms allow people to put almost anything in your face, no matter how rare, and convince you that it’s an epidemic
Men are not constantly being told “you’re bad,” they are constantly being told “LEFT WING SJWS THINK YOU’RE BAD” by conservative propaganda. There’s a huge difference.
I have two sons, and I don't think I've ever seen messaging going "Don't be a boy" or "YOU'RE BAD."

Sure looks like that's in "I heard someone say that they heard..." territory, rather than actual direct experience.

Also worth noting, the main message from manosphere influencers is "YOU'RE BAD."

It began as an innocuous inquiry on Facebook. Nelson Felix, a resident of New York State, posted in the group ‘What’s My Typewriter Worth?’ about a curious find he made while clearing out the basement...
