I think this is the first flight I’ve been on — at least in the last several years — where the boarding process didn’t involve the gate staff begging people to gate check bags — so I guess it makes sense that I ended up with an empty middle seat.

TBPH I think this is a specific case of a general thing that’s, like, being somewhat online is good because you can share knowledge, but too much online is rilly, RILLY BAD because you get infected with the badness.
