Ken Livingstone vibes?
I think people are underestimating how much Mamdani, even more so than your average elected leftist, see it as his top priority to not be seen as a failed mayor. He is not going to be another Brandon Johnson, I’d wager

Extremely keen to confirm this
Really interesting research showing that while ultra-specialization in a single discipline might lead to better results early in one’s career, multi-discipline training and practice pays off big time in the long run. This applies to a range of professions from scientists to athletes and more

I've found myself using the f-word a lot lately. Fascism. There's a lot of it about. People don't like to say it because it makes them uncomfortable. It seems extreme. Well, fascism is extreme and you can't ignore it. Get used to it. Start using the f-word.

Presumably there is a perfectly rational explanation for this compromise with the doors (?) but it is quite funny in isolation

Hi @steverichards.bsky.social, I enjoyed the podcast on tariffs. The only thing I thought missing was impeachment. I know Republicans have been craven in failing to stand up to Trump, but if the economic damage is as bad as we all think, surely they can't go into the midterms with him as president?

Hope the Trump era makes more people realise that whether people respect institutions and the rule of law is so much more important than standard ideological differences between left and right.

OK, gonna throw this spicy bomb out there.

If you're fortunate enough to have disposable income, then right now it is your duty to use that income wisely. You have agency over how you spend it and you should own how you spend it.

Your decisions do, in fact, affect stock prices of big corporations.

And here’s the crucial part: Trump and Musk aren’t outside this system, strategically exploiting it. They’re inside it, just like everyone else. They aren’t masterminds - they are products of the same information disorder that is warping public perception.

There's plenty of concern about the state of the world today but not enough about whether we're on a march to the next world war and what we can do to prevent it

The plans would see 4 ground level playing fields reduced to a roof top playing field 3-4 levels high!

1. When prices go up, incumbents go down;
2. A small but electorally significant number of Americans won't vote for a female president;
3. A lot of voters pay little attention to politics and thus weren't really aware of/don't believe the bad stuff.

Together, if done right, they can make a very real, very visible difference by the next election
