What is transnational repression?

Transnational repression occurs when authoritarians target individuals outside their borders, and it is now easier for them than ever before.

Authoritarian regimes are targeting exiles and diaspora communities in more places than ever before. Activists, journalists, and regular people living abroad must watch their backs…

Indeed. And “ability to collect taxes” is one of the very basic measures political scientists use to measure state capacity.
Reminder that this is illegal. The IRS has statutory rules that forbid them-except under very specific conditions-from sharing data. The reason is very practical-if people don't trust the IRS they will avoid 'voluntarily' paying taxes. The tax system falls apart otherwise.
NEW: The IRS is building a vast effort to help the Trump Admin deportation apparatus.

A Trump-appointed IRS official objected.

Now he’s out.

& the effort is going forward.

Stunning. May was brutal for Trump in federal court: 96% loss rate ⚖️. Even GOP-appointed judges have ruled against the admin 72% of the time. District courts are doing their job defending the Constitution. Soon the Supreme Court may be the only court unwilling to defend the rule of law.

What exactly did House Republicans just vote for?
-14 million Americans to lose their health care
-18 million kids to lose their free school meals
-5.4 million people to lose food assistance

It’s not about waste or fraud or abuse.

It’s about a bigger tax cut for the rich.

Donald Trump isn’t just illegally removing U.S. citizens from the country without due process.

He’s illegally removing U.S. citizens who are literal children undergoing care for cancer.

5. Fired NSA Director
6. Sacked 6 NSC officials
