from the works of yesterday
true highlight of the release: when connecting functions to signals, autocompletion will no longer add parentheses

kind of, the value is stored in the a vertex attribute and then the shader interpolates what's in between, here's a 32x32 grid for example

you have to store the attribute in a domain (vertex, edge, face, face corner, etc), so here i'm basically just storing the noise as a vertex color on a dense plane
it's not practical for something like noise im showing here but closures are currently geometry nodes only

it also works on other object types like armatures, grease pencil, etc.

bonus tip: numpad 8/4/2/6 also vary based on what modifier keys you press.
- by default they orbit the center of your view
- holding down ctrl make them pan the camera
- and holding down shift makes them roll it (useful to orient yourself after using align view to active)

same shortcut in edit mode and pose mode for example.

That alone is definitely one of my top awaited features, I don't have the disk space to download entire asset libraries, so the ability to connect to libraries like Polyhaven to browse for materials or HDRIs right in Blender is a dream.

Do you have an estimate when development on the new animation layers will start? Or is it just whenever what's currently being worked on is done?

i remember back in 2.7 when fly navigation was Shift+F, though lately I've been feeling like it should work like it does in most game engines, where you hold down right mouse to use it.

anyway have something from me, shift+numpad 1/3/7 (align view to active)

blender is a fun program because you can sometimes just say "screw it i'll just randomly try to figure out what the different things in different dropdowns actually do" and come out learning a thing or two or something that will make you question how you used to live without it

i watched someone coincidentally play through the game for the first time yesterday and run into the crash and we were so confused until i checked steam discussions which was filled with people talking about that specific crash lmaoooo
