To all elected politicians everywhere:

Remove yourself from X.
Shut down X, xAI and Grok.
Issue arrest warrants or bans.

If you do not do this, you enable rampant paedophilia in your country, and the world.

If you cannot, you must explain to your electorate why not.
Do not use the "freedom" lie.

It seems our PM is both a coward and lacking in principles. It’s time he and his advisors stopped kowtowing to bullies. They won’t let him in the gang no matter what he does so he needs to find some new friends
Asked why Keir Starmer has not followed through on his commitment to ban all apps producing deep fakes, after X's Grok engine generated multiple AI-generated sexual images of children, his spokesman would not commit to either banning the app, or stopping posting there

Keir Starmer Says ‘All Options Are on the Table’ to Stop Elon Musk’s Grok Creating Deep Fakes of Children
The Prime Minister's spokesman told Byline Times that X's creation of sexual deep fakes was "completely unacceptable" but did not commit to direct action against the company

AI is a technology developed and promoted by men with the emotional maturity of a 1st grader & who think it’s worth using excessive amounts of energy & pure water so that people can create stupid memes & men can create pornographic images of women who wouldn’t look at them twice.

Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

Trump’s speech and the actions of 6 January were broadcast widely at the time. We saw what happened live. A documentary after the fact should have been careful about editing but I simply don’t accept that it changed what we saw in the moment. This is an attempt to rewrite history

Why is conflict of interest such a hard concept for boards, civil servants and politicians to grasp? So many snouts in so many troughs and all beholden to each other. Lobbying is never impartial; what would be the point? It’s out of reach of us the Electorate, so our views and interests don’t count

I see the US VP is again trying to normalise extremely offensive discourse using a ludicrous argument. Is he going to claim next that beating up LGBTQ+ people is ok because “that’s what kids do?” If you’re old enough to run a political group you’re old enough to take responsibility for your words

I find it obscene that a man who is already massively wealthy wants damages for his own theoretical loss which would have to be funded by the taxpayer. Our loss to line his pockets. And he has the brass neck to use EU law to do it when he helped fund Brexit. Rapacious capitalism: no irony only greed

I have never been so disappointed in a BBC piece. Breathless admiration is, as far as I knew, not the role of the BBC’s political editor when describing a party political conference. Description+detail yes, rigorous examination of the conference content, yes. This, absolutely no, in my opinion.
Chris Mason: Reform conference shows party's growing ambition like never before
The conference feels like that of a big party - but retains the insurgency vibe that the party is seeking to channel.
