Nice of the Sunday Times to ask my opinion on this hot topic.

I am quite sure Miliband will not want Rosebank approved on his watch. We now know it could generate 254 million tonnes of greenhouse gases. The idea this will not cause significant harm is laughable.

Will Ed Miliband approve oilfields he once called ‘vandalism’?

We’re half way through the hearing into our legal challenge on Gatwick Airport expansion – and the govt has made a partial concession on one of our grounds: noise. We’re pleased we have secured better protection for local people on this at least.
The case continues.

Good luck!
Good morning! The hearing into two two legal challenges on Gatwick – Peter Barclay's and CAGNE's – starts today.

Peter Barclay argues consent for expansion was unlawful as the govt failed to follow its own aviation policy and failed to assess climate impacts.

We'll be in the High Court from 20 January.

Our chair·Peter Barclay is challenging the govt's decision to allow Gatwick Airport to convert its emergency runway into full-time use.

The climate impact of this expansion is AT LEAST 8 x bigger than the Airport claims

📢 Campaign win in Hampshire 📢

We’ve just had misleading pro-oil language stripped out of the Hampshire Minerals & Waste Plan!

The claim that onshore oil “makes an important contribution to supply” and benefits from being close to centres of demand, has been deleted.

Shocking story!

Gamebird licence refused, gamebirds released anyway, consequences minimal.

“all my Days shooting had been sold ... and the pheasant and partridge poults ordered ... Without a licence I’m going to be in a very embarrasing situation”.

Er, get the licence before selling the Days?
When a licence is refused - and gamebirds are released anyway.

Great idea! Mike Berners-Lee is knowledgeable and articulate, he would make an ideal guest.

@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social and @rory-stewart.bsky.social, hope you will consider.
@alastaircampbell2.bsky.social & @rory-stewart.bsky.social unfortunately couldn’t make the National Emergency Briefing.

Would they consider having @mikebernerslee.bsky.social on #Leading?🙏

Mike chaired the NEB and sets out the threats - and the choices ahead - with exceptional clarity.

@wealdactiongroup.bsky.social is considering legal action over methane emissions from onshore oil & gas sites.

We've written to DESNZ and the Environment Agency. Depending on their response, we may bring a claim for judicial review. Read more ⬇️

Happy new year!

2025 was quite a year for us. We saw continuing impacts of our 2024 Supreme Court win, and renewed debate on the vexed definition of fracking. And we started work on a new campaign on methane.

Do @surreycc.gov.uk realise UKOG is just stringing them along to avoid restoring the site (as they are doing at Broadford Bridge)?

Hooray!

Oil cos abandon plans to produce oil at Biscathorpe.

Because of the tax regime and the “lack of clear case law post-Finch”, they say.

Really it's because they can no longer get away with obfuscating about their climate impact.
