I'm sad to learn that Exeter has the highest death rate among homeless people of any English city.

It's a lovely place to live but it seems we can't look after our vulnerable neighbours.

Thank you @exeterobserver.org for reporting on this.

Exeter homeless death rate highest among English cities featured in annual Museum of Homelessness campaign charity report - Exeter Observer
21 people died while homeless in Exeter in 2024, nearly three times as many as previous year, but council says nothing despite report publication during city homeless awareness week.

I'm proud that I played a small role editing this report.

The new undersea cable linking Tunisia and Italy is presented as a win-win project. But as the report shows, it is just the latest version of colonialism: Europe meeting its decarbonisation goals at the expense of Tunisia's sovereignty.
Tunisia’s public utility, STEG, risks being sidelined. Domestic renewable energy production stalls, public ownership weakens, and the country becomes dependent on imports. This is not energy sovereignty, it’s dependency dressed as progress. New TNI report: www.tni.org/en/publicati...

Equinox and Shell joining forces in an attempt to avoid paying their fair share into the UK economy.

These two massively wealthy corporations have already made fortunes by driving climate change.

Major reform to the tax system is needed.
BREAKING 🚨: Rosebank's owner Equinor is joining forces with Shell on a new North Sea venture ‘Adura’ that could see Shell dodge £1.3 billion in UK tax.

While families struggle to heat their homes, polluters keep cashing in.

Thank you @equalshope.bsky.social for having me on your podcast.

I enjoyed talking about the @wealdactiongroup.bsky.social court win and whether it could halt new fossil fuels in the UK.

We will find that out when the govt decides on the Rosebank oil field.

Oceana UK made a Top Trumps of planned oil sites. The numbers are shocking:

🦭 149 wildlife species at risk (likely an underestimate)
🐟 36 commercially important fish species also threatened
🛢️ over 900 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent projected to be released

Email your MP: link in this post ⬇️

Great article @jamesgdyke.info! We absolutely must turn off the fossil fuels spigot.

The best chance right now is to make sure the govt doesn't approve Rosebank. It's oil & gas would produce 254 million tonnes of CO2Eeq when burned.

Would you write a blog about that?

(I've emailed you too)

Good news! The govt has published its long-awaited Methane Action Plan.

Bad news! It ignores onshore oil and gas production.

Every year, millions of tonnes of methane are vented, burned, and leaked from UK onshore oil sites

So true. The onshore oil & gas permitting regime needs a thorough overhaul.

I don't want to get all Chesterton's Fence here, but if you don't understand that a "microscopic snail" is an indicator species that's protected for the health of the entire ecosystem, you probably shouldn't be forming "good relationships" with developers
