They used to be "The January Sales". Eventually they became "The Boxing Day Sales".
Now (if you ignore a month of Black Friday sales) the sales start on Christmas Eve, at least according to John Lewis.
But I'm wondering if I no longer understand what the word "sales" means.

I am quite impressed by the Lawrence story on #TheArchers. I think it is indicative of people who used to have little racist conclaves, but are now emboldened by the political zeitgeist to come out.
