happy #fossilfriday! this is abyssosaurus, a deep-sea plesiosaur from early cretaceous russia. like many other vertebrates that live in the bathypelagic zone, this animal retained juvenile traits well into its adulthood, a condition called paedomorphis

birding is inherently political bc much of it boils down to your access to a place - whether due to money (exotic birding trips costing thousands) or safety (where will you be safe as a woman or poc?) or regulations

Bird lovers: If a bird hits your window, take it to a rehab center even if seems to be recovering! They often have broken legs or internal injuries and they fly away only to die hours later.
