My heart broke the other day when I was at the local downtown Kitchener encampment and I saw a girl who was only about 6-7 years older than my child. Somebody’s baby. Out in the cold, shivering and desperate for the hot meal and blankets my daughter and I were dropping off. How is this our reality?

This bylaw will not solve homelessness. But it is a necessary and immediate step to uphold human rights while the Region advances its Plan to End Chronic Homelessness and works to expand affordable housing.

Without a bylaw, unhoused people have nowhere to shelter themselves. They effectively do not have the right to exist. People who attempt to shelter themselves on public land face police intervention, displacement, confiscation of belongings, or arrest.

I'm so sorry. That is such a huge loss. Sending you and your son strength during this challenging time. The number of people who have lost jobs and will continue to lose jobs under this government is a travesty.

I’d indoctrinate all children to keep hands and feet to themselves and use words instead of fists to solve problems. I’m trying my best to help kids remember, but I really can’t indoctrinate anyone.

I’d indoctrinate the kindergarten & grade 1 kids to always remember to wash their hands with soap after using the bathroom and to keep their fingers out of their noses.
