Professor of biology, married for a really long time, mom of four boys, dog and cat and chicken owner. Stroke survivor. Jewish since birth. Trying to use my powers of anxiety for good instead of just freaking out. She/her.
Trying to ignore social media as much as possible (hi, hello, it's been a while!) for my own mental health. But the world is burning down, so I thought I'd say that even so, I'm thankful to have work colleagues who know that I'm a safe place to process what they're reading on social media.

feels like a lot of us are Cassandra, except instead of the gift of prophecy we've been given the gift of being able to see the obvious fucking things that the god damn asshole said he was gonna do

When I say I'm not at all surprised about how far we've fallen in 3 days, it's only because I know there's worse to come.

Adding "stroke survivor" to my description. Feeling so thankful to have had such a minor one, and to be home recovering.

fascism is stopped when enough people say one of two things:
1) "nah, I'm not doing that"
2) "nah, you're not doing that"

a lot of people want to imagine how they'll say the second thing, but you should *really* start practicing the first one

I mean can I say that hasn’t already been said?
"The democrats say 'please don't call [immigrants] animals; they're humans.' I said, 'no, they're not humans, they're not humans; they're animals.'"

Trump is reaching new levels of evil.

I think we have one more bowl of soup left from the Thanksgiving turkey. I'm about turkey'd out at this point.
