Censorship in video games is endemic. So much, that we might not realize that's the case.

Today, in the first installment of my new series, I explain how classification boards such as the ESRB and PEGI are responsible for much of video game censorship.
How video games are censored, Part I: Classification boards | Erik Twice
Erik Twice uncovers the workings of classification boards like PEGI and the ESRB to explain how video games are censored. Part I.

My learning #18XX game went well! While it went very long, everyone enjoyed it and wants a repeat. They were all so sharp I didn't even win!

A few weeks ago, I got a new bike! My goal is to ride 13 km each way to work? But I’m going to take my time, I need to find a good route.

So, today I'm announcing a new book project... and doing a call for papers: crpgbook.wordpress.com/2025/10/31/t...

It's an anthology of video game history outside the usual US perspective - an accessible & exciting panorama of different realities - and I'll pay 300 USD per article.

Please share :)
The Video Game History Expansion Pack – Pitch your story
Today I’m putting my money where my mouth is and launching a new project — a book focused on game history outside of the usual North American perspectives.

Tomorrow, I won't only teach #18XX to new players, I’m adding my own handmade expansions for good measure.

The #ChainsawMan film was a blast! Constantly funny, fantastically animated and even charming and pretty at times.

Loved, not just to watch it, but to see others love it as much as I did.

It's a longshot, but does anyone have any Mutant Chronicles: Warzone 1st edition minis/the rulebook that they have going spare that they're willing to sell for a sensible price?

A lot of the eBay listings are from the US and the postage costs are a little silly.

Let's watch #SpyFamily, it has been a rough week and I need something fun!

I'm in a 1825 game with 8 players and I'm not sure of how to win at all! I opened the Midland Railway (Red) as soon as I could and I'm not sure if it was a mistake or not.

This episode confirms what I love about #Sanda: That despite being a comedy and having an outrageous premise, it takes itself extremely seriously.

Three player Tigris & Euphrates. What a tense game. I knew the player to my left was doing much better than it looked and his grin confirmed it!

I won on a tiebreaker, good thing I went for it!

Rest in peace Itagaki, gaming will be less fun without your passion and playful edgy persona.

Today another sanctimunous motorist honked at me, illegally crossed boundary lines, passed me on the wrong side and surpassed the speed limit to tell me it was “illegal to ride a bike on the middle of the lane“🙄

Just watched #Sanda and it blew me away, by far one of the strongest first episodes I've ever seen.

Top-notch animation, absolutely deranged plot including stabbings, love triangles and Santa Claus. Unique character designs and humour carry the rest. Can't wait for the next episode

Chainsaw Man Pt.2 has been rough, but then you see panels like this and it's all worth it:

When someone accuses me of courting controversy or being overly negative for "clicks", I only wish they realized, not just that I put my time and effort, but that I actively lose money with every article.

If I wanted "clicks", it wouldn't be worth it.

I played 1853 online and we built this beautiful North-South network, allowing the Northwestern Railroad (NWR) to reach the bottom of the board!

1853 keeps surprising me with how every game the network looks different despite having no random factors whatsoever.

While the whole Evil Eye arc was a bore, #DanDaDan Season 2 was great. It's just a fun show, with utterly fantastic animation, great character chemistry and hilarious, downright wacky situations.

Last game of Shikoku 1889 didn't go too well for me. I gambled on the Diesels never coming out but they pushed for them anyways.

I cloned the game to see if I would have won had they not come out, but I wouldn't have won in that case, either.

I decided to read "Although we're adults" because I was told it was a mature, realistic manga with older characters.

FUCK THAT SHIT. It's one of the dumbest, least believable shit I've read in ages, even harem slop is held to higher standards than this.

It reminds me a lot of SMT's press turn system - a system the games actively have to shut down to create interesting fights because it barely has any built-in risk and merely rewards you for doing what ud already be doing anyway by playing normally.Theres not that much u can do in this sorta system

The games are essentially rewarding an action that is already extremely positive (doing damage to enemies, comboing them, locking them down) with tools that let you do it even more. You have all these feedback loops & devs build risk/reward within systems that have little inherent conflict
