My first steam game ISLANDS & TRAINS has just released!! What began as a tiny hobby project has grown into something that I'm so thankful, excited and proud of.

It would mean the world if you could give this a repost and try the game on Steam 💌🌻 s.team/a/1957760

Last weekend I did a jam in Unreal with a friend and I was surprised how powerful the blueprint + behaviour tree systems are, perhaps it is as good as they say?

The setup wasn't fun though it took like 6 hours to fix Visual Studio and stuff so I could compile code...

The fourth project I'd like to show is one inspired by NodeBuster which got me thinking of a an idea where there's a tower that is powered by the sun and the player gets to build some turrets/buildings on that tower to defend themselves while drawing power from the sun.

Video is sped up 1.5x

The third project is a mix of fruit ninja and math for kids. It was aimed to be a super tiny project that I could "finish" in a pretty short time frame. Its playable here galensoft.itch.io/numberslice

The next one is made in Godot and was in cooperation with a ex colleague. It's some kind of rougelike zombie car shoot em' up in an apocalyptic world with different missions to go on and help a colony to survive. The clip here shows one of the missions where the player has to fetch some food.

The first one is me and my partner's game about his hamster finding some gold and going on a vacation in Bahamas. When we started this one I wanted to make it with something like RayLib or MonoGame because I absolutely didn't want to spend more time in Unity than I was already doing at work...

Implementing pause/resume on a timeline to let players read the text in cutscene was interesting. Using PlayableDirector's Pause and Resume WAS NOT THE WAY TO GO 🫠The better way is
pd.playableGraph.GetRootPlayable(0).SetSpeed(0);

Why are you like this Unity?

I just added a really handy dev tool to our game!

Admin Mode: instantly complete levels, buy towers & upgrades without the usually required resources, and open doors without the usually necessary progression.

this will (among other things) allows us to easily create savegames!

I've been working in Godot for a few months now, doing a few different projects. One of them feels somewhat done, its a very tiny game mostly intended for the younger ones.

How do you indie devs decide on projects to work on? What's the top 3 factors for you to dedicate your year (or how long it takes) on a certain concept?

One of the driving factors behind KOOK was to make a game with that Quake-like retro pixelart texture look but also have per-texel self shadowing so textures all looked like they were authored for the lighting they were in.
