Media & entertainment, politics, tech, music, history, books. “The trouble with normal’s that it always gets worse.” - Bruce Cockburn
There must be a reckoning.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

What if, instead of switching twice a year between daylight saving time and standard time, we just fall back every night so we can all have the extra hour of sleep we desperately need? That would work, right?

I saw Jeff Daniels in a convenience store in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. He was buying donuts for his band, on their way to Oshkosh. We made eye contact, but the encounter was so out of place (Beaver Dam is a town of 16,000 people) that it didn’t seem real.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

Listening to The Clash’s Combat Rock for the first time in ages. Baffling to me now that, simply due to two kick-ass popular singles, the album gets a bum rap. “Know Your Rights”? “Straight to Hell”? The band was as uncompromising as ever.

My 8-year-old came home once when I was playing a Wilco album, and he started shouting “de-PRESSSSSSS-ion! de-PRESSSSSS-ion!” (Now he listens to Radiohead, Elliott Smith, American Football, and Have a Nice Life, so …)
Okay okay, let’s turn the tables, folks: when were you roasted by your KID for your music taste, rather than your parents? Shared a couple of examples here and there but I’m sure there’s more.
100% this. me trying to play a Redd Kross song for my then 7 yr old "yep that sounds like something YOU would like..."

Kenny Burrell’s Midnight Blue album is the only thing that’s helped me calm down all day. Highly recommended.

Roy Haynes played on so many of my all-time favorite albums. Out There, Destination...Out! Black Fire, Thembi, Transfiguration. But I truly think I love this one most of all. #RIP
