If it means anything, Jeff Zrebiec mentioned yesterday that that was a decision made by veterans in the locker room, not the coaching staff.

The main takeaway from this is that *chasing* right-wing positions is a losing electoral venture (alienating the left/center while not convincing the right) that only serves to spread popular support for right-wing views. Not really prescriptive.
