Yes, this. Even the boycott aspect is much, much more about the "51st state" crap than the tariffs. The tariffs suck, but many countries are being hit with them - Canada isn't really being singled out like we are with the annexation talk. Sick of reading "Canadians are upset because of the tariffs"
I legitimately think this article misses the mark, because Canadians are not avoiding travel out of some principled boycott of the USA over tariffs.

Canadians who are avoiding the USA are seeing images of masked government thugs kidnapping people and teargassing children.

According to this ranking, Canada’s reputation has improved since 2024. We are now the 2nd most reputable country in the world.

The United States has dropped from 30th to 48th in that same year, the biggest drop of any nation BY FAR. Its reputation-peers are now Kuwait, Algeria, Kazakhstan…

I first started wearing contacts when I moved to Canada and learned to ski (wearing glasses under ski goggles is not fun), initially as an occasional thing but eventually almost every day. It was nice not to have to deal with foggy and/or rain-spattered glasses in the winter!

I know this is just a distraction from the fact that the Liberals have presented a Tory budget, but I miss Eurovision and would love Canada to be part of it!
@steveburgess53.bsky.social: The main thing is that by participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, we will indicate Canada is turning toward Europe and away from Trump’s America.

We do not join in on “51st State of Mind.” Our tune is more like “50 Ways to Leave Your Neighbour.” 🎤🎶

I actually love this! I was prepared to be disappointed and to need some time to get behind the name, based on the league's track record of very meh names and the leaked Seattle name in particular, but this is awesome! Suck it, Torrent!

I worked on a couple of very cool manuscripts this week that included some methods I used to use myself. I ended up dreaming last night that I was back in my postdoc lab setting up for a cell transfection experiment. I haven't picked up a pipette for 20 years, but dream-me remembered all the steps!

My gym was showing Sesame Street (with subtitles) on one of the TVs in the cardio area today. It was actually kind of awesome, and most people seemed to end up watching that rather than the Jays highlights on the other TV. We all learned a lot about how to express our feelings in a productive way.

Stayed up way too late the last couple of nights finishing The Pitt. It’s like having ER back, and that makes me happy

(Con: no George Clooney 😞
Pro: I don’t have to watch it with the three medical student flatmates who used to talk over half the dialogue in ER as they tried to diagnose everyone)
