We did Taco Tuesday with the GenZs and listening to them espousing the merits of the neighborhood corner tavern, debating James Bond movies & discovering they get a hard-copy newspaper delivered to their house every day is quite refreshing. The kids are alright.

Clonton county NY is geographically about as far right as you can go in the north country. The north remembers.

Yesterday I donated two bags of my dad's clothes that had been in my car since August.The yellow&blue striped shirt.The green sweater vest.The fuzzy blanket. Now she's given me all his coats,still scented with his shaving cream, his scarves tucked in the sleeves.Piled in the entryway,more goodbyes.

Our neighboring town ( rural areas) just had a huge upset- a write-in candidate beat the incumbent by 200+ votes because the town didn't want to fund the ambulance.

Last night, one of my son's high school friends won his race for town council as a Dem. He got 139 more votes that his closest R opponent, in a small rural conservative town of 2200. Our small town (pop 9000+\-) just elected a D town supervisor for the 1st time in decades. Its amazing. 🌊💙

On Wednesdays, we split a veggie calzone for $10 from our local pizza place.
Me: want to go get Thai food tonight?
The H: what?! And miss $10 calzones?
We are as spontaneous as the next couple, but in this economy, a $10 veggie calzone is a $5 dinner.
