This month might be the first time I have to go to a food bank as an adult. And if not this month then probably next. I use my SNAP mostly to feed my dad because his SNAP isn’t enough to feed him. I don’t think I’ll be able to afford groceries for us both out of pocket.

HOLD THE DAMN LINE.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I know the lexapro is finally wearing off because I’ve cried a little every time this has gone by on my phone.

www.teepublic.com/t-shirt/8274... I think I did this right? I’ve never used this website before and did it from my phone but I think this will get you your very own STFU Tony Romo shirt, while supporting me ❤️💙

I think I get Swedish threads because I have the keyboard on my phone. But I’m grateful to be able to see a glimpse of what’s going on because my brother never tells us.

If I had known I could be gay, do crimes, AND get away with it if I was a piece of 💩, I would have thought twice about trying to be a good person.

Randomly spotting an artist I know in national news.

Good trouble.
Ka’ila Farrell-Smith grew up deeply involved in the fight for Indigenous rights. “I’ve been warned my entire life, ‘The FBI’s watching us.’”

Now the agency is focused on her and a new generation of activists challenging a lithium mine in Nevada.

Little (maybe 5 year old) boy in the brewery came up to me and said, very seriously, “You know what? Sometimes you have $5 and sometimes you have $7.”

I really feel that, little dude.

You know it’s gotten weird when you’re on the same page as Ted Cruz and Karl Rove.
They’re even turning on their own. Texas Republican Ted Cruz slammed FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, calling his behavior “mafia-like” and warning that Carr’s threats to retaliate against media companies for their programming were “dangerous as hell.”
Ted Cruz: FCC chair sounded like 'mafioso' in threat over Jimmy Kimmel
Ted Cruz cautioned that the administration's threats against the media posed a risk to free speech protections in the First Amendment.

I keep typing words and then deleting them because none of them are sufficient to capture how utterly fucked up and unacceptable this is. And yet it won't move a single Republican to give a damn.
The president of the United States just declared war, actual military war, not a metaphorical one, on a major American city, and one governed by his political opponents.

In any other period, this would be impeachment-worthy.

Has anyone ever gone through a business rebranding? I worked in marketing when a small nonprofit did. Less than 10 staff, small website. It was a whole nightmare for over a year. Changing the name of even a small business is a huge undertaking. I can’t imagine what a nightmare this would be.

There are some fascinating documentaries about the theft of art that happened in wwii.

It’s interesting to me that we’re seeing systemic destruction of the arts again, but this time without the pillaging. Maybe it won’t happen. Maybe it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe we just haven’t heard about it.
The daughters of Hermann Göring's aide - who refused for years to talk with art-theft investigators - put their home in Argentina up for sale, and GUESS WHAT.

Hello. For those of you who are unfamiliar with my career, you might like to know that I have 20 years of arts nonprofit administration experience. And that is the thing I have the least experience in. The reasonable* maximum is 30 years of experience with photography.

I know my shit, thx ☺️

I have never shared video of a Black person being assaulted like this before. It’s traumatizing to watch. But it’s important to note that this is 🧊. Not police. Not the national guard. The police, who are supposed to serve and protect, stand by and watch as 🧊 bodies this man.
ICE body slams man's head hard into pavement—for eating crabs in public.

Agents shove him into ground with arms twisted behind his back—bleeding severely from his forehead.

"My head! You're breaking my arm!" he cries out. "Why are you doing this? I was just eating crabs!"

Rochester is on his list. Maybe not very high up, but be assured that we’re there.
Trump on DC: "We haven't had to bring in the regular military, which we're willing to do if we have to. And after we do this, we'll go to another location and we'll make it safe also ... Chicago is a mess. And we'll straighten that one out probably next"

I was just thinking about how tuberculosis chic is coming back in, as it does during recessions.

Didn’t know TB was also back in.

Just told off Comic Book Guy incarnate for raising his voice at the girl serving hotdogs at Costco. Because two things we will not do are:
1. Go after young Black femmes
2. Yell in Costco

Me: did you see that Matt Rife bought Ed and Lorraine Warren’s estate?

Boyfriend: 😶

Me: that comedian who got all the plastic surgery so he could get laid more even though he kind of hates women. And the Warrens, who were pioneers in the paranormal but also super shady and manipulative people.

Still looking for more stable housing for my niece. Any tips are appreciated
Do I leave anyone who has a rental apartment available? My niece is looking for a spot. 14607 or close to it (she works on Monroe). $900 or less (yeah, I know, I’m encouraging her about a second job). August move in, ideally.
