I'm so thankful that it's just my yard and not my home that's flooded.

My heart is breaking for my community members that's not so fortunate.

There are so many people that are losing everything right now.
Our community was hit by two tornadoes in the last few weeks and now it's flooded as well.

Slight pet peeve: when Ukrainian folklore/pagan deities are presented as spooky bogeymen and not as morally ambiguous.

It's tired, and if you can't do your research and read our folklore, maybe don't use Ukrainian folklore for your cheap fiction.

I am extremely annoyed by The Guardian claiming 'Romantasy has reclaimed the geeky fantasy dominion for women, celebrating female friendship, agency and sexuality'.
This skewed view stems from the ongoing erasure of women writers in SF&F through fewer reviews, omission from 'Best of' lists etc etc

Smol beautiful guardian molluscs 🥺💖
Hardly new info, but BSky should know:

Warsaw's water quality is monitored by eight clams with magnets attached to their shells. If contamination in the water causes the clams to close, the magnets trigger an alarm and shut off the city's water supply.
Thank you, little guardian molluscs.

All of this.
I don’t investigate every author I read before reading them. I can’t live my life constantly checking everyone to ensure they’re not awful. But, if I find out that your behaviour is something I’m not okay with, I’m not reading your book. In fact, I will actively avoid your work.

@scifiscavenger.bsky.social have you read any of Simon R. Greens work? If you haven't I think you'd really enjoy his space opera Deathstalker!

I always glance at reviews before giving a listen, and something that drives me wild is whenever someone just praises the hell out of a book and the narrator but then gives a 4 star review? What? You literally didn't say a single negative thing. Wtf??

Need a new listen, I want something that's got Baker & Llewellyn vibes or Redmond and Haze. Victorian cosy mystery. No romance. Nothing that revolves around political shit or anything controversial. I literally just want a detective(s) solving murders. That's it. Please.

So I'm fixing to head to the ER as advised by my doctor, but I know I'm about to get a big ole bullshit run around even though it's a very serious situation.

So I have a bladder stimulator and it's malfunctioning. It's literally shocking the hell out of me and we can't get it to stop.

From this point forward, if a book includes rape scenes and lacks content warnings, I won’t be finishing it. Writers can imply or hint at traumatic events without graphic depictions—better yet, they can leave them out entirely.

Hey Gods & Goddesses, the humans you created to sit in glades and frolic through fields of flowers are being forced to do disgusting things like be responsible adults, work, pay bills, and stress over everything. Can y'all do something about that? Or like let the aliens take us. Idk, anything.
