I wrote about Ukraine's recent anti-corruption protests for Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute.
28+ cities rapidly mobilised to defend democracy. Ukraine's civil society is vibrant as ever. Ukrainians will not accept a terrible deal in an attempt to end the war

Nights in Kyiv increasingly resemble scenes from a film about the Nazi bombing of London: machine gun crews on the roads, air raid sirens that lasted for hours, metro stations packed with people, searchlights in the night sky, searching for Russian drones, explosions from ballistic missiles... -

1/ #Belarus remains in a deep human rights crisis.

Since 2020, over 8,100+ people have faced politically motivated prosecution. Repression of activists, journalists, and ordinary citizens continues.

And yet Europe has the problems with freedom of speech. This is wild.
This country is really blowing my mind every single day. Not in a good way. (I wonder if I can get deported for saying that)

Classic russian negotation tactics - ceding nothing, and manipulating the situation to its own benefit.
Putin has allegedly already given the order to halt energy attacks, but air alerts ongoing across Ukraine right now.
I guess we all know russia targets civilians, not just infrastructure.

Нью-Йорк вчора. Yesterday there was a last minute protest in NYC organised in solidarity with Ukraine. Turnout was in the hundreds, despite the short notice. New Yorkers care about Ukraine.
Similar events were being organised in 20 cities across the US.

JD Vance lectures the UK & Europe on freedom of speech. Then the US administration does this. Watch them be highly selective in how they define 'illegal'.
Note how this also puts pressure on universities to prevent/stop protests, or they lose funding - creating a climate of fear.
Trump bans illegal protests in Universities

Students will be expelled and, possibly, arrested.

Foreign students will be sent to their countries.

No federal funding to universities that don’t comply
