Suppose I should actually introduce myself instead of just lurking.

I love architecture, history, and both of those things together. My research interest is Preservation of Holocaust Sites and Memorial Architecture and sometimes I yap about that.

But I’m also gonna nerd out about fandom stuff 😚✌🏻

We now have Tropical Storm Chantal. It’s 150 miles SSE of Charleston, moving N at 2 MPH. No change to the Tropical Storm Watch for the Charleston metro, but a Tropical Storm Warning is now up for Georgetown & Myrtle up toward Cape Fear.

Mayor Brandon Scott has reduced crime in Baltimore by 62%, and now has the lowest homicide rate in Baltimore history.

How did he do it?

NOT be spending more on police. He did it by MAJOR investment in afterschool and literacy programs.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

Whenever I see women speak out against their rap*sts and name them, I see those women then shamed by the public. How come rap*sts never receive that level of being shamed???

The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.

24 deaths reported so far from flooding in Kerrville, near Austin/San Antonio, TX.

Several summer camps were active when the flooding started, including 'Camp Mystic' which houses 750 girls for a week-long camp at a site along the river. 25 girls are missing.

A parent's nightmare.

The most 🤮 part of this whole bullshit thread from the NYT:
Pat “But Her Emails” Healy is now NYT assistant managing editor for STANDARDS AND TRUST.

This is like making Trump a chief anti-corruption officer.

There is no stronger confirmation that the NYT execs hate real journalism.
Our assistant managing editor for Standards and Trust, Patrick Healy, posted on X today in response to feedback on our recent reporting on Zohran Mamdani.

In response to violence in DC and Boulder, American Jewish leaders are doubling down on conflating Zionism with Jewish identity—even as they insist that it's wrong to target Jews for Israel's actions. This response won't protect Jews, writes publisher Daniel May:

One thing about me is that I’ll watch the WORST movies/shows if my favor actor(s) is in it, but will avoid even the best movies like the plague if someone I don’t like is in it

I’m just waiting to see how the zionists are going to justify their genocide with this one. It’s funny in an actually devastating way how delusional they’re becoming each day.

If you’re a leftist, you need to be discussing disability rights because it’s one of the most pressing issues of our time. People are becoming more and more disabled in a society that has been allowing high risk people to die. Eugenics is happening RIGHT NOW!!

Idk I just feel that if your country is “so dangerous” & you’re “constantly afraid of bombings” or your country is “constantly being attacked” & the people feel “oppressed,” then you shouldn’t be inviting people to come visit, right?

So then why do I still see emails & ads for Hillel Birthright? 👀

A restaurant called “Don’t fill up on that” where all we serve are the free bread courses from other restaurants. Cheddar Bay biscuits, chips and salsa, brown bread from Outback, breadsticks from the Olive Garden, and the servers are always all “now don’t fill up on this” and we all laugh and laugh
