“I just think killing bears should be the last possible resort, right, so if that’s the conversation that we’re having, we need to make sure that we have exercised every other option before we got there,” said Elmeligi, who is also a #bear biologist.🐻

It’s no surprise that over a third of the UCP caucus has recall petitions filed against them. Scandal after scandal has left people exhausted with this government.

Albertans want better. They deserve better.

“The Alberta gov’t released a report on aggression and complexity in schools on Friday that echo what the teachers’ union and others have spent years calling for, prompting critics to accuse the gov’t of dragging its heels.”

It’s almost as if they should have been listening all along. 🎁

Albertans paid the price for the UCP’s $125 million dollar political experiment with public health care.

Wait times grew, errors increased, and patients suffered from waiting too long for routine appointments and delaying cancer treatment.

My heart is heavy with the idea that I am now being forced to defend Albertans’ Charter rights.

Invoking the notwithstanding clause violates our teachers’ rights to freedom of assembly and to strike.

Once I was fishing in the Kananaskis River and a Grizzly Bear walked right by me, not 30m away. It did not see me. Nothing happened. I reported it.
Here is a blurry photo I took from my car of a mother Grizzly and two cubs. Again, nothing happened. No shots fired by either side.

My four closest grizzly "encounters" over a couple decades hiking were where we were asked "did you see the bear? [that our group saw walking toward your group in this confined part of the landscape]" and no, we did not see the bear. It completely ghosted us!

🗣️ Elmeligi said public safety is the top priority but that is tied to co-existence.

There are many science-based options to manage grizzly bears already identified in the recovery plan for the species aside from bringing back the hunt or the minister’s grizzly bear-killing wildlife response team.

I encountered this gorgeous blond black bear near Canmore. I stopped the car, took a picture from the safety of the car and drive on. It did bear things. No shots fired by either side. I reported the sighting and recorded the observation on iNaturalist.

Not this year but last summer...I was biking to a music festival and came across a black bear on the trail. He did come at me, but his stance was "whatcha doin'?" I yelled SIT out of panic and habit (I have large dogs) and...he did. And then I rode away.

Once again, Alberta’s UCP Government plans to suspend Charter Rights of Albertans.

First to attack teachers’ rights, now trans youth.

The Justice Minister proudly said his voice is the final voice on this matter.

It is not. The voice of the people is the final voice.

Danielle Smith can't stop lying.

She once guaranteed that "no Albertan would ever have to pay out of pocket" to see a doctor. Now, she's bringing in an American-style healthcare system that will force you to do exactly that.

Stand up to Smith's lies 🔽

Protect public health care. Say no to Smith's American-style health care plan.
We’ve just learned the UCP government has a fully-fledged plan to bring American-style health care to Alberta, forcing you to pay to see your doctor.

Let's tell the truth about bear encounters and coexistence. If you've had a bear encounter this year, it was amazing and nothing happened, tell me about it. Email your story (3 sentences or less) and 1 photo to Banff.kananaskis@assembly.ab.ca. post it on your socials too and tag me and the Minister.

Good morning.

If you live in Alberta, you should know that today your government will invoke the notwithstanding clause to wage war against transgender Albertans.

Not because transgender persons are harmful, but because the UCP is distracting you from their mountain of failures.
