As I prepared to erase [twitter] I realized I couldn't leave Dad behind when his values meant so much to me: he belongs here, I hope y'all don't mind.
This is a reproduction of a thread from Dec 2019 that reminds me to stand with my neighbours. And yes, he was laid to rest in a toolbox.

Just to clarify- the Caring Society has called on Canada to release funds for Ontario notwithstanding the terms of the Ontario Agreement which makes implementation conditional on Tribunal approval (without any changes). Fortunately, it is open to COO, NAN and Canada to amend those terms

when you take money out of your savings account to buy a car, that’s not your bank helping you. The same principle applies with any form of "government assistance", which is something we all pay into.

Does everybody remember the $6.2 billion wind farm project off of Connecticut? Remember when Trump said he would not approve a single wind turbine in the United States?

The judge said no. Project goes ahead.

This is really cool. Researchers used sound to ID several species of marine fish off the coast of BC.

This means that we might be able to use similar techniques for monitoring fish populations and communities, without needing to capture fish in the process. 🐠🐟🐡

Politics isn't my field, wheelhouse, lane, or circus, but I do think a lot about children's books and media.

"Won't you be my neighbor?"

We're learning what that means all over again.

And, as my people keep assuring you, rightly, this country will keep receiving the lesson until it is learned.

I have a friend who used to rally for the "right things". You know, the things that are good for people. "Idealistic" things.
She got elected, and has since told me " I am for realpolitik now".
I *had* a friend...
I think about that a lot lately.

Well-installed heat pumps installed in the UK today achieve on average a 64% higher efficiency than those during the early trials 15 years ago.

It is testament to the brilliant installers and to the technology getting better. More in our recent paper:

I activated the alt-text reminder last year, and was stunned at how often it needed to remind me. I thought I was doing pretty good! (I was not)
2026 challenge for everyone:

This year looks to be A LOT, so let's work on being kind and inclusive!

- Have you put alt text on that image? Yes, that one too.
- Have you enabled the alt-text reminder?

- How's your language use? Have you removed all the slurs?

Let's try to not exclude people.
2025 challenge for everyone (myself included):

- Have you read the entire thread before replying?
- Have you looked to see if other people have already replied with what you want to say?
- Are you thinking of "well, actually"-ing?
- Do you you and the person know each other well enough to say that?
