i think it's a very nuanced topic and i agree with em a lot and to add to all of this i absolutely do feel like shit sometimes when everyone on my timeline is at a con or at rhys' shows or discussing stuff happened at a paid event and i have no idea what's going on
i think the takeaway here is that we try and make fandom more accessible for those who can’t afford it. we live in a capitalistic hell so i don’t know how to fix this shit either, all i know is it sucks to feel excluded because you can’t afford shit!! guess we should all just shut up and deal w/ it

This right here. My issue with the whole debate really just boils down to yet another source of joy being behind a paywall, and the fandom being split between those that can afford and those that cannot. And like you said there is no easy solution to this.
