Called my congressman who voted for the SAVE act.

Me: What documents will I need to vote if this passes?
Staffer: a DL and birth certificate.
Me: The documents don’t match
Staffer: Then a marriage certificate.
Me: Will my husband need the marriage certificate too?
Staffer: No
Me: See the problem?

If you erase the shameful and abusive from history, it is much easier to repeat it with less resistance. It took many generations of right to undo SOME of the wrong, it could take just one to undo ALL the right. Be careful what you choose to ignore.

Seems to me they are selectively protecting/trampling fundamental rights - cherry picking which ones keep the power balance and which ones threaten it. Voting, speech, guns, bodily autonomy, religion - but only of certain religions. Like how I nestled guns and religion in there?
A birth certificate is required to get a social security card, and that number is used to obtain a Real ID

Why do republicans claim a woman's ID is insufficient to vote?

Whatever paperwork is required to vote should also be required to buy a gun.

Real legal question: If a president makes official announcements only on his social site he owns, & employees don't know what's going on in their own agency - that's the only announcement, isn't this emoluments? Forcing people to create an account on a site he profits on to know how to do their job!

To be clear, no one is cheering this massive failure, this isn't a "yay!", this is an "I told you so."

Today's stock market crash was the worst since the Spring of 2020.

Can you guess who was president during *both* crashes? I bet you can!

The HHS rule banning trans care from many ACA plans is open for public comment now. Only 3 comments so far.

Embarrassing how the media is completely ignoring this. There's likely over 200,000 trans people on ACA plans (1% of 24 million)

Today was the second time I had to deliberately unfollow members of the current administration on my Meta/FB account, and I never followed them in the first place. Wtf

2/2The only thing that's not going on with public service loan forgiveness is banks making even more money on the backs of students who can't afford it. Don't believe me? Calculate it yourself.

1/2 An average student loan is approximately $30,000. Let's say you borrowed $36,000. With current interest rate of 6.4% in the first 10 years, your payment would equate to just over $50,000 public service loan forgiveness is not free money for students.

Real lesson of the good Samaritan: the priest and the Levite worried what would happen to them if they helped, the Samaritan worried what would happen to the injured man if he didn't help. (Paraphrased from Jodi Picoult, she captured it well)

Be the Samaritan.

If this doesn't bother you, you don't care enough. Patriotism is believing our country is amazing -which makes it hurt so much more when our leaders betray that. Standing up for democracy, respecting individual liberties, a land of opportunity-these shouldn't apply to a select few with deep pockets.

I find it truly ironic (laugh lest I cry) when federal employees who voted for this have the audacity to complain.

And this is why Republicans should be able to disagree with their leadership. No one should be okay with this. No one. FAFSA data was bad enough.

I remember a recent past where a person could disagree with their party and not be a pariah. How about you don't assume all libs are interested in socialism and a full redistribution of wealth, and I won't assume you're all racist misogynists who want to control women and help the rich get richer.

I do wish people were more aware of the demeaning and unappreciative language being used toward lifetime public servants. This is not return to work. This is return to office. Words matter. We've been working.
