Another way of looking at it isn’t as good for Dems:

If 2026 is a Dem wave election, Dems may have flipped 4 seats on CA’s old map, so they’d only gain 1 seat there & 1 in UT from new maps.

If the GOP gained just 3 in TX, 1 in MO, 1 in NC, & maybe 1 in Ohio due to new maps, they’d net 3-4 seats

I do think this is a point of radicalization because a lot of angry, angry normal people were ready to dig in and suffer a lot in order to make fascists suffer a little, and their resolution was sold out and made into a mockery
