In Georgia, like most places, a recall requires gathering signatures from registered voters. But we also require specific grounds for the recall. It's a high standard. Recalls here are rare – and as far as I know, all recalls in the last 7 years that passed legal review were successful.

Cross-tabulation of the Woodstock mayoral race and the PSC D3 race. Incumbent mayor Michael Caldwell, a former Republican state representative, easily defeated former Indivisible chapter leader Martha Jean Schindler.

I was already inclined to go with the SoS's spelling of Vicky's last name, “Boyette”, rather than the spelling here, “Boyett”. And then I read the next line

Working on compiling referendum results/details from Tuesday in Georgia. This one jumped out at me – Georgia law doesn't require a referendum to allow package sales of beer and wine! (You have to hold a vote to do it on Sundays, but not to do it in general.)

This is a comically absurd interpretation of the policy at issue. Glad a judge overturned the expulsion. www.ajc.com/education/20...

In Berkeley Lake, Ga., write-in candidate Kathy Sanders came in fourth place in a race where the top three candidates are elected. Two candidates who were on the ballot underperformed her.

Georgia SD 35 special election has been called, rather unusually, for November 18, two weeks after the state general election.

City of Washington, Georgia, has candidate qualifying for the November general election next week, over a month later than legally required. Conspicuously, that is right after tomorrow's special election for the other District 1 seat, meaning whoever loses tomorrow can run again in November.

I understand “Jeffery” is a nonstandard spelling, but the city misspelling this guy's name twice in a row is not great, especially seeing as he, uh, won the election last time and is now the incumbent mayor seeking reelection.

(It'll probably be correct on the actual ballot, but still.)

Saw this recommended to me and I briefly thought “why are they just having content creators to discuss this when they could invite…” and then I looked at the thumbnail again lol

The asterisk means incumbent, the word “incumbent” also means incumbent, and one incumbent (Jennifer McDonald) isn't marked at all.

Here's everyone who qualified to be on the Atlanta ballot this November, per an email from Clerk Lindo. Alt text to come in a reply.

Hmmm, fair enough. He was a weak frontrunner but a frontrunner all the same.
