Seeing the Trump admin going from wanting to pull out of their international commitments, then realizing the negative consequences on their power projection and economy, and then rolling back is giving me this feeling.

My liberal sympathetic mind is telling me that US institutions must surely have checks and balances to curb the Muskian ravaging of the state

My anarchist trained mind is telling me that the state serves capital and its institutions will indeed crumble for the whims of billionaires

The extermination of prisoners at Saydnaya was mass slaughter on an industrial scale.

The machines used, the discarded clothes… It’s hard not to look at the footage coming out and not think of the Holocaust.

Bashar al-Assad must pay for this.

Prisoners liberated from Deir Al Zour Central Prison

Every liberated city is a moment for the release of prisoners and for many an opportunity to go back home.

What non-Syrians say doesn’t matter. Syrians deserve dignity
Syrians in Syria and around the world are celebrating the collapse of a regime which has brutalized them for decades.
It's non-Syrians who seem to be most upset by Assad's fall (something we knew all along)

Forget Jordan. It seems the South is gonna be under Rebel control seeing how developments are going in Daraa
In that same sense, I don't think Assad will kick Iran out to get cover from Israel and the US. Iraq and Lebanon sandwich Damascus from East and West. And regime forces as they have shown against the Syrian opposition just aren't up to snuff to face Iranian militias

One thing I have a hard time getting across is that the Syrian regime set up a prison and torture apparatus that doesn't limit its targeting to individuals themselves, but it will punish family members as well. It's why you end up with many activists taking pseudonyms to protect relatives

Don't really buy that Assad released prisoners in a long scheme to create ISIS. Sounds like a conspiracy theory. Don't even know where the prisoners are now

After thinking about it, I concluded that good taste didn't forbid me from doing it. It's ugly and quick, but Assad doesn't deserve quality.
