Genuinely think anyone can “git gud” at any creative craft they are interested in. If we wanted to actually “democratize” art we would invest in housing, healthcare, food and education as human rights. All GenAI does is make people even more financially precarious and less able to pursue a passion
I think a bit of the "AI is democratizing art" argument is trying to avoid the ugly truth that to get good at anything you have to do a lot of it. I grew up "knowing" I was a good writer, but I really wasn't until about 700k words, and it took reading hours of scripts to really have a voice

I use deck blue on here and it's by far the best interface for this site I know - especially if you want to use multiple accounts, or check different feeds easily. Also, you can filter notifications and mute reposts from individual accounts which is a blessing.
O SHIT if u click on a tag it crops up a dropdown to not just mute it but see posts with that tag by an individual user!!! That is. So very useful for quickly looking for more specific stuff from someone etc. Amazing

I will never pass up an opportunity to point out that it costs Gilead approximately $6 to manufacture a month’s prescription of PReP, which would wipe HIV off the face of the planet if widely adopted and which was developed with federal funding, and they sell it at $1,500.
