With many people covering Alice’s impact and legacy, the Alice Wong I want to remember is the woman behind all the bodies of work. The super blunt, funny, and empathetic human that I was able to be friends with for a little while.

Heartbroken to learn of Alice’s passing. I looked up to her immensely, and I was so grateful for her patience, grace, creativity, & insight as a collaborator. I will miss her fierce kindness & her sharp wit so very much.

I drew this portrait of us in 2021 for CommunityAsHome. Rest in power, Alice.

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Teen Vogue rising after the 2016 election and dying after the 2024 election doesn't even feel like a metaphor as much as a microcosm of what is happening all over places that were once strong areas of resistance.

I’m going to add that, they are doing this on purpose to increase the idea that Brown families lie about their connections to take resources and take over America

Which is especially important as they push the idea of “real” American families
no joke: this line of attack is racist.

MANY people from MANY cultural backgrounds use “auntie” and “uncle” for older relatives and even close family friends.

the NYP knows this. this is just bad faith racist bullshit parading as cultural ignorance.
