My current favourite bit of Flat Earth lore is that you're "not allowed to explore Antarctica" which arose from clearly incompetent flat earthers being shut down by tour operators who didn't want to be liable for their inevitable, foreseeable deaths.

If libraries were introduced today, there would be push back because "they're socialist plots for indoctrination" because they're a huge asset for the poor as a relatively free service. Conservative politicians are so blatantly fascist its almost comical.
Sometimes I can’t believe that the library lets me walk out with an armful of books and I don’t have to leave them a credit card number or firstborn child or anything else in exchange.
