Opinion: Racism in the UK remains the preserve of an extreme minority — but one that is emboldened and growing louder. What we are seeing is not about having a bad economy, writes FT columnist Stephen Bush. on.ft.com/4mej1f9

Here are some of my new Fairway Figures. Inspired by bollard forms but I didn’t think that helped with naming. Robust, calm, timeless with overlapping colours and descriptive drawing on the surface. Just about to exhibit them.

It’s what we can actually DO about it.
Stop the Tories and Reform
Your vote is your power. Use it tactically to get the Tories and Reform out, then influence your new MP and the next government.

Trump is a thug, a bully and a gangster. This is what statesmanship looks like: doing what's necessary to protect your country's interests, but keeping open the hand of friendship and hoping for a day when the US will return to its senses.
Here's the speech if you haven't heard it. 13 minutes of your time. Share it with your American friends and neighbours, because they won't see it otherwise. Circulate it in Mexico and Denmark, France and the UK, Panama and Germany, Poland and Estonia, and especially -- especially -- Ukraine.

Here are two of my new figures waiting for firing. They need to be really dry and there is a third one recently completed that will slow things up for more than a week. Still, looking forward to seeing the colour change.

Typically sensible advice from @jdportes.bsky.social to Rachel Reeves.

For now we need stability and a return to growth. But this must be a platform for radical changes to the way we run the economy if we're going to address the global threats bearing down us.

There is no need to panic: the government’s overall fiscal strategy is the right one. Spending cuts would be a mistake, says Jonathan Portes, a professor at King’s College London

Watching @edconway.bsky.social dissect the latest immigration figures and it’s remarkable what a tiny percentage of the number comes from people on small boat crossings

Completely disproportionate to the attention given to this by the media and many politicians
