I maintain that we’re in an era of politics where people are desperate for an ounce of authenticity and well-meaning politicians are painfully slow on the uptake.
yes yes yes to all of this. material politics is the way forward and that doesn’t mean slogans it means the very difficult work of being a real presence in the lives of the people who you want to trust you.
It doesn’t matter what I think. Also, none of this would ever happen. But if I had a zillion dollars:
1. Run a “we do hard things” campaign across southern and rust belt states. Invest heavily in local, state and regional social infrastructure. Sponser later hours at a library, build a skate park…

Im surprised that people are surprised as to why there’s a huge political gender divide that we see today.
I got an answer: women gained power, men felt threatened that their place on top of the hierarchy and the intrinsic power that came with it is gone

Has anyone ever asked these “humanity is stagnant” billionaires like Musk and Thiel why quality of life and/or happiness is never considered a factor of human progress? Chasing societal collapse for faster tech advances isn’t going to make them feel better on the inside.
